TERMS AND CONDITIONS Version 6
All transactions are subject to our standard Terms and Conditions. We revise our terms and conditions periodically to ensure that they are fair and reasonable. The latest version will be available on our website

PREPARING FOR THE ENGINEER
Please provide an accurate description of the problem when you book the appointment, so that we can make adequate preparations.

Make sure you are able to provide any CDs, product serial numbers, login details (e.g., Windows logon passwords) or other information and materials we may require. The engineer will take you through the information he needs during his visit.

Although we will take reasonable care of your data, when servicing a PC there is a small risk of data loss. Therefore, we strongly recommend a full backup of important data before the attendance of an engineer.

If a backup has not been done, we will charge for temporarily backing up your data files – for safety’s sake.

During a restore or reinstallation we will attempt to back up files in standard document folders only, unless you tell us otherwise.

During a service it is good practice to empty or delete folders used for temporary file storage and to empty the recycle bin. We do not recommend you store important files in these types of locations.

By booking an appointment, you accept this risk of data loss. You are also agreeing that our liability will be limited, at most, to a reasonable attempt to restore your data from your most recent backup.

FEES
We will either give you a fixed, total price for the job, or agree an hourly rate.

Parts costs are not included in the fees; we will indicate the cost of these, but we may need to inspect your PC first. We will always tell you in advance of the cost of any parts.

We may need to agree a revised price with you if the work required is different from that originally agreed or expected.

You must agree to pay any fees or deposits as soon as they are due. Full payment is required on the return of your PC.

ALL WORK GUARANTEED
If the problem for which we were originally contracted is unresolved, please contact us within 14 days, and we will arrange to rectify the issue within a reasonable time.

We will not normally charge the repair fee again, unless the cause is a new incident or beyond our control. We will charge our usual “collect and return” fee.

We will charge for any additional parts required (except for those covered by our parts warranty), and for any new work requested on the return visit.

Our workmanship guarantee ends if repairs are attempted by someone else.

NO REPAIR FEE IF UNABLE TO HELP
We will not charge the repair fee if we cannot solve the problem.

If a second opinion is advisable, your permission will be sought beforehand.

If we are able to offer advice or a diagnosis but are prevented from completely solving the problem due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control, we will charge appropriately for our attendance and any help, advice, or diagnosis provided.

We reserve the right to refuse to undertake work for any reason, although in this case we may adjust or waive the fee accordingly.

Nothing in our terms affects your statutory rights and if any part of our terms cannot be enforced, the remaining terms shall survive and remain valid. Please contact us if you require clarification of any point.

INSURANCE COVER
You are advised that TLC Computer Servicing cannot insure your property while it is on the premises of TLC.

Similarly, if you agree that your property is taken to another agent (e.g., for further diagnosis, for a second opinion, specialist repair), your property cannot be insured by that agent.

We recommend that you check that your property is insured by you when away from your premises.
